Gut-Healing Grape Jello
Here is a classic, kid-approved gut-healing treat that is simple to make and fun to eat. This jello recipe is part of the SCD intro diet and an excellent choice for those following the AIP or GAPS protocols. You can add fresh chopped fruit, and pour it into dessert bowls to fancy it up.
Ingredients
100% pure grape juice, no sugar added | 2 cups
grass-fed gelatin powder, unflavored (*see recipe notes) | 1½ tbsp
honey, optional | 1 tbsp |
Directions:
- Pour 1 cup of juice into a bowl.
- Sprinkle the gelatin over the juice in the bowl, and whisk it in.
- Place the other cup of juice in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 to 10 minutes, until hot. Do not boil.
- Pour the heated juice into the bowl that contains the other grape juice and gelatin, and whisk it all together.
- If adding honey, stir it in now.
- Pour into a casserole dish or small single-serving dessert bowls. Chill mixture for 4 to 6 hours until the jello firms up.
Recipe Notes:
- I have used both Vital Proteins gelatin (green container) and Great Lakes gelatin (red container) with great success.
