Simple Chocolate Brownies

I love how quick and easy these Simple Chocolate Brownies are to make! I usually freeze them individually wrapped for a quick grab-and-go treat. For the photo, I drizzled a little of my magic shell chocolate sauce over the top.

Dietary Notes for Simple Chocolate Brownies:

Egg-Free/Vegan Version: In place of one egg you can use 1 Tablespoon of ground chia seeds mixed with 3 Tablespoons of water. If using chia, just grind them in a coffee grinder into a powder before measuring. If you don’t have a coffee grinder you can still use the chia seeds whole, but they will add a little crunch to the brownies and won’t bind quite as well.

Ingredients

almond butter 1 cup
maple syrup ½ cup
cacao powder ½ cup
vanilla extract 1 tsp
baking soda ½ tsp
sea salt 2 pinches
egg, large, (*see notes for egg-free/vegan version) 1
coconut milk (or other milk) 2 tbsp
walnuts, chopped, (optional ingredient) ½ cup

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. For the egg-free/vegan version: Mix ground chia or flax seeds in water in a mixing bowl, and stir well.
  3. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. You can use a spatula and mix it together by hand, or use a food processor or an electric mixer.
  4. Pour batter into an 8″ square pan.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Let cool.
  7. Enjoy these Simple Chocolate Brownies as a grain-free treat!
