Broiled Grapefruit with Honey
This Broiled Grapefruit with Honey only takes a few minutes to prepare and it adds a refreshingly bright and sunny flavor to the morning. It’s also a perfect snack on a winter’s day when you want a burst of Vitamin C. Sometimes, my breakfast consists of a Broiled Grapefruit with Honey and a slice of my Super Seed “Honey No-Wheat” Baguette.
- Vegan: replace honey with maple sugar.
Ingredients
grapefruit, large | 1 | |
honey | 2 tsp | |
cinnamon, optional | pinch |
Directions:
- Set the oven broiler to high.
- Slice the grapefruit in half.
- Use a knife to slice around the segments in the grapefruit, freeing the inner sections. This will help to create little pathways for the bubbled honey and fruit juice to seep down. And it will also make the grapefruit easier to eat with a spoon.
- Set grapefruit halves, cut side facing up, on a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper, and drizzle a teaspoon of honey onto the grapefruit. Sprinkle on optional cinnamon.
- Set under the broiler for 3 to 5 minutes, until grapefruit is bubbly and caramelized around the edges.
- Enjoy!
