Two Ingredient Air Fryer Pork Belly

I didn’t grow up with pork belly; frankly, it was outside my comfort zone for a long time. However, when someone told me, “it’s even better than bacon!”, I knew I needed to try it. I wasn’t disappointed! This simple recipe with minimal ingredients produces a crispy outside and a tender and juicy inside.

Added bonus: For people on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) or GAPS, finding bacon that is safe to eat is very difficult. Almost all commercial bacon has sugar and chemicals restricted on the SCD/GAPS. This air fryer pork belly is a very simple solution for making a bacon-like substitute. If you love bacon I have a feeling you might love this too!

Ingredients

pork belly 2 lb
sea salt 1½ tbsp

Directions:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
  2. Cut your pork belly into pieces, approximately 2 inches (5 cm) cubed. It doesn’t have to be exact but similar is best for consistent results.
  3. Season pork with salt.
  4. Toss into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  5. Air fry the pork belly cubes for 18-20 minutes (* see recipe notes below), shaking and flipping them a couple of times throughout the cooking time.
  6. Cool for a few minutes before you enjoy!

Recipe Notes:

  • Store in the refrigerator. You can reheat these for a few minutes in the air fryer, but I also enjoy these cold.
  • Air frying times will depend on the size of your pork belly pieces and the size of your air fryer.
