Andrea’s Pain-Fighting Basil Bomb
Anytime I feel a flare-up of ankylosing spondylitis-related pain or gut trouble, I replace a meal or two with fresh green juices. This is a recipe I turn to often because I love the flavor combination of the pineapple and basil!
Ingredients
pineapple, fresh | 2 cups | |
basil, fresh | 1 handful | |
cucumber (*see Recipe Notes) | 1 | |
kale or spinach | 1 cup | |
lime | 1 |
Directions:
Use a juicer for juice or a blender for a smoothie.
Recipe Notes:
For the smoothie version pictured, I omit the cucumber and squeeze the juice from the lime into the blender. I also add ice to the smoothie version. It’s genuinely an anti-inflammatory bomb of pineapple and basil goodness!
This is absolutely delicious. I’ve been having an AS flare up over the last 24 hours. If this helps that’s great, but even if it doesn’t it’s just yummy.
