Andrea’s Pain-Fighting Basil Bomb

Anytime I feel a flare-up of ankylosing spondylitis-related pain or gut trouble, I replace a meal or two with fresh green juices. This is a recipe I turn to often because I love the flavor combination of the pineapple and basil!

Ingredients

pineapple, fresh 2 cups
basil, fresh 1 handful
cucumber (*see Recipe Notes) 1
kale or spinach 1 cup
lime 1

Directions:

Use a juicer for juice or a blender for a smoothie.

Recipe Notes:

For the smoothie version pictured, I omit the cucumber and squeeze the juice from the lime into the blender. I also add ice to the smoothie version. It’s genuinely an anti-inflammatory bomb of pineapple and basil goodness!

  • This is absolutely delicious. I’ve been having an AS flare up over the last 24 hours. If this helps that’s great, but even if it doesn’t it’s just yummy.
